That was what, 10 shots in under an hour?

I did a bus tour of whiskey country, hit numerous distilleries, tried lots of bourbon. It was a fun weekend.

I finally finished my home bar and stocked it with a baker's dozen whiskeys I rotate through. Here is a list of a few more I have tried and recommend recently.

Teeling Single Grain- first time trying a single grain. I bought it as a thank your for my final clinical preceptor and he texted me that it was "f*$%ing amazing" so I got a bottle for myself. Singple pot still, single grain Irish whiskey. To say this is smooth is an understatement. Hints of caramel to me. VERY HIGHLY recommended.

Duke- the recipe is owned by the family of John Wayne. The Duke apparently made his OWN whiskey and made notes on the mash and distilling process; they used those notes to produce Duke. Definitely good flavor, but not a smooth whiskey- it hits you in the face. The character really is a lot like John Wayne himself. Recommended.

Swear Jar- Canadian blended. Honestly, I bought this one simply because the name was awesome. Bottle is large enough to actually be used as a swear jar, and it provides the costs of certain swear words on the back. Canadian whiskey tend to be sweeter and this is no exception, but this is not as sweet as most. Very balanced flavor...one of the best Canadian whiskey s I've ever tried. HIGHLY recommended.

Wollersheim Bottled-in-bond Bourbon- if you are in Wisconsin, a trip to the Wollersheim Winery and Distillery is worth it; beautiful grounds, excellent quality and diversity of products. The BIB bourbon has a little more kick to it, and the warmth hits you in the back of the mouth and throat. Flavor is very in-your-face, but good. Recommended.

I 100% agree with your assessment of Duke. Only I think it was McClintock and Dirty Harry taking turns. Hard pass on a repeat.
