Pop Up Chicken Shop - Bloomington, IL

Post by bassman233 » Fri May 13, 2022 6:58 am

Just discovered this place & thought I'd share. Best damn Nashville style hot chicken I've found in IL. They have 4 different heat levels, and homemade vinegar slaw that is just magic. It's inside a VFW hall, and opens for lunch at 11. Get their early to avoid the lines, went at noon a few weeks back and the line was out the door.

Seconded Bassman! Popup Chicking shop is absolutely excellent! Thankfully they now have their own brick and mortar location.

Excellent chick sandwich (Sando), unless you like heat on it go for country. The dill fries are also excellent. For those of you from central IL that know what a horseshoe is they make a good one with a unique cheese twist using Gouda.

The chef also just opened a hamburger place, but I have not been to try it out yet.

Their burger place (The Love Shack) is awesome as well if you haven't tried it yet.

I was sad to see the Love shack close, though they have combined the menu's of the two locations into one location. I am not sure if it is the over saturation of burger places in town, the overhead of having two brick and mortar stores, the upcoming second pop-up location near the ISU campus, or the issues they have been talking about with the building they were in (old Pizza hut).
