New Profile Options

The new system permits a lot more flexibility, including designations within your user profile (see User Control Panel in the upper right).

I HIGHLY suggest that if you are an active member here that you update this profile ASAP. We've added a Your Role field - which defaults to something you probably do NOT want if you're active at all.

I'm not going to change it for you. It's up to you to make the changes.

Sadly, the people who breeze through here, post ads, and never bother to read the board are going to have an issue down the road for ignoring this warning message.

Still looking and learning, but did manage to change my Role designation.

Looks like I have things cleared up...but the only thing I have a problem with now...is when clicking on a URL link, it no longer opens the new website in a new tab or window...instead it now directs me to the website in the window I'm reading within the forum. I hate having to push the "back" to return to the Forum page.

Please use the subforum under Tech Corner for these sorts of comments so we can keep track.

I'm aware of this problem, but the current platform doesn't allow us to change how it functions. As we move forward, it will be changed.

Fixed*.

* But only for new posts. Old posts will open in the window that the link was clicked. Going forward, link embedded in posts will open in a new tab.

The reviews were a modification to the original site.

We are in the process of upgrading from this version (yeah, I know, we just upgraded, but it was a necessary interim step) to the latest version of the software. Once we have that in place we can start bringing back more of those features.

We still have copies of the reviews and they are in a format that will be easy enough to migrate once we have the final software version in place.

This new layout has lots of potential for new features.

There will be two ways we can approach the reviews:

1) Try to import the data from the old site in some custom format on this platform; or,
2) Import the data after some massaging into the Review forum that is currently not open.

This switch-over is an interim step as Wallaby said, there is an upgrade to this under way. One of the things that upgrade will allow is forcing the completion of a form for stuff, such as reviews and requesting reviews, and placing that new data in the forum.

I like that it now shows what lists you're a member of. I used to have to look through several different months of donors, etc. to find when my various memberships expire.

Now it's right on my profile. Or if looking at someone else's profile, you can see what lists they are a member of.

When looking at profiles, I've noticed that some have a link available to send them a PM and some do not. Is this a setting determined by each individual user? Maybe the folks without the link don't have PM privileges?...
