Commentary on Advertisements

Post by Publisher » Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:55 pm

I have received several complaints from people posting ads on a couple of specific issues:

1. The "I wish I Could" category. Just stop it. Some of you have done this, so many times with some specific advertisers, that I doubt they'd give your contact about an appointment any - and I mean any - time when they saw it was from you.

or, "If only I had known" category. The respected advertisers with their act together advertise their schedule plenty in advance. It's not their fault that you aren't checking in regularly. It's annoying to them to get a notice of a a worthless response.

2. Commentary on their ad that is, in effect, a negative review. Post a review if what happened was so bad that you screwing with their livelihood warrants that information be out there.

If you want to say "hi" or compliment their ad, or the pictures they graciously provide, go right ahead.

I can tell, for a fact, that we've lost 6 advertisers in the last 45 days because of these behaviors,

There a a few guys that comment on every ladies ad.
Maybe, they will realize it. Then again, they probably are not paying attention. Have a good night.

Being able to comment to a lady on there ad is something many site do not allow. We have discussed this and if the behavior listed above does not improve we will have to do the same.

That would be unfortunate, as discussions attached to an ad are frequently the only place some of our ladies ever respond, to allow us to get to know them better. I am certainly guilty of #1a on occasion, and #1b a couple of times. I will endeavor to not do this in the future.

*Edited to change #2 to 1b. I don't think I've ever posted negatively in response to an ad.

I never have given this much thought. I'm with SK here. I believe I'm guilty of being complimentary towards one. Whom I've only met in public. It's not that I wouldn't spend time with her. I just haven't had the opportunity. She's not within my travel comfort zone. If she feels I've wasted her time. I apologize. I just try to be positive. As I don't have any real information to share in a reveiw. But share what knowledge I have, because I feel she's worth spending time with.

But also on my defense, I thought positive notes are.......well, positive! Sorry to anyone who feels this way!

I think is more of a mixed bag of opinions. I'm guilty of complimenting on adds. So I reached out to a couple of my favorites. A couple said they appreciate it. And another didn't respond. So I assume she doesn't like it. But I will refrain from those I don't know.

Alot of people, and I mean ALOT of people are guilty of saying come to Illinois or Iowa!

Seems right on target though. They want to make a living, not get their ego stroked. It's the clients who are looking for the strokings.

Can I be frank here? Or tom?

If no one made any comments on an AD thread, the thread would be dead. Just sayin'

Let's all just keep from typing on AD threads....... and no one would break any rules.

Safe travels and enjoy your tour kinda say good bye to me. Move to Nevada is a little rude. The others are being smart ass and high jacking a thread. Using codes that only mean something to 1/2 of us.

Just keep the comments to things that pertain to the poster and or their ad. If you do not have anything nice to say then don;t say anything.

Posting to be carfull and avoid DM is very sound advice but unfortunately many of the members would not understand and just be confused by this.

OK. I DIDN'T MAKE COMMENTS IN AN AD THREAD.

Some people need to pay more attention to the Thread Title.

Move to Nevada is a thread I started. PAY ATTENTION!

More comments one could make in an ad thread
She's hot and I want her.
Come to my cabin
Do you play tiddlywinks
Hubba hubba
Do you like fish sticks
Three thumbs up
Meet me at the gentleman's club

Have a good day. Keeping the thread alive.

Here is a suggestion to the MODS.

If a lady post an AD

LOCK IT!

Problem solved.

This is why I get paid the big bucks here at GBN.

I don't think that would be a very good idea. There are a few ladies out there that actually appreciate the positive complimentary posts. And even more now. Because they feel they've lost reviews. Or rather the accessibility to their reviews. Due to other sites closing down. And in some cases, their adds get a bump from those who appreciate what they are doing.

BS - The problem is someone commenting in their AD threads...... Why make more work for the MODs? They have enough to do. If an AD is posted, LOCK IT! IF a Lady or Gent needs their EGO stroked. Email or PM them yourselves....

Another site did that. Whether it was automatic or not if someone posted an AD you couldn't respond to that thread. If that was done here, the OP's issue and concerns would not be a problem.

What were looking for is an extension that the OP can moderate a thread they create.

So they can moderate the content on their thread? Pick and choose which "comment" is appropriate? Yeah, okay. Go for it.

Why not go and create their own chat forum on another platform and venue then? Like Twitter, Switter, Yahoo Group and the list could go on.

Give them all MOD status......

Lock the f'kin thing and we can get the 6 back that we lost. Plus, in addition, the Ladies can't piggyback their AD as they did in the past.

No....Looking to make it so only the OP of the ad can then post in their own thread. This would allow them to update or change things if needed but know one else to post in the thread.

If it is completely locked that creates much more work for the MOD's as they will have to have them do any changes or updates that they no longer can.

For example...Ladies that want to advertise in the Wisconsin companion Forum. .. What would stop them from updating and ad several times a day to stay at the top of the thread ? This could get into a competition to be the first ad?

For example...Ladies that want to advertise in the Wisconsin companion Forum. .. What would stop them from updating and ad several times a day to stay at the top of the thread ? This could get into a competition to be the first ad?
First updating and ad does not move it. Second they can do that now if they want but if they are just bumping it they will get warned and possibly removed.

The issue is not the ad poster it is what a few decide to post inappropriately within their ad thread.

The problem is the comments on the AD thread.

Fine, let them post an AD....., THEN LOCK IT themselves so NO comments can be made on the thread. Update the AD if necessary......Period.

Solves 2 issues at once....... I am for it.

But to have them or anyone else pick and choose which comments they should "keep" or "edit" is wrong. What is this .....Russia? .....N. Korea?

Which goes back to my original point., No comments on ADs period! Use another method to communicate.

So what we are becoming BANNED ADVERTISEMENT light now in regards to ads? Let the companions decide if they want comments. as long as the comments remain tasteful and encouraging I see no harm. but I am just a nobody :-?

Ya beat me to the punch Finny.

So then upset the ones that likes positive comments on their adds to appease those who dislike it. And in some cases, that's the only way to get some interactions.

At the end of the day, the GUYS are discussing what the ladies want. And there has been no lady opinions. If they want an "open or closed" add. PLEASE feel free to put your 2 cents worth in. Atleast we will know who likes comments on their add threads and who doesn't. If nobody speaks up. Then I don't see an issue. No voice, no input! I say leave it the was it is.

DM ,my brotha I agree with a lot your posts, however this is a SOCIAL Board not an AD board. Yes sometimes things get out of hand on ladies ad post. But the majority seem to enjoy the banter. Should we eliminate all of the "Wow wish you were in Peoria or wherever" type responses yeah that might be right on.

But to not interact with the ladies is agaisnt ALL this board is about. :mtin **==

While I agree with DM's point of just locking all of the ads in order to eliminate these issues, I also can see the other side for ladies who are receptive to the idea of receiving comments on their ads.

I don't exactly know what goes on in submitting an ad or the setup of it, but could there be some sort of acknowledgement (check box?) if the lady wants the current ad that she's posting to be locked or not? She should understand that once it's locked, she can't update it. I would think this option should satisfy the ladies who don't want comments and those who do.

Since the ladies are the main reason we're all here, let them decide at time of posting the ad. I would hate to keep losing ladies over such an apparently easily solvable issue.

I can see the merit in both sides of this issue. I agree with Finman about this site being a social, interactive site, that also has ads. And I'll repeat what I said above, that these threads are the only place some of these ladies participate in banter, and it would be a shame to lose that.

If Eastside's solution is workable, that might be the best compromise. If it has to be either locked or open for all, it seems like polling the ladies would be a good idea. Put a poll up in the donors area.

Ok, i am going to give an example of why it is important to be able to post on ads.

A new lady joins, doesn't really read the rules but posts an ad. Us faithful gbn followers see this ad and we like. So we tell said lady we like and she should introduce herself in said greetings forum. Said lady likes that we appreciate her and she does as suggested and maybe donates. Has happened a couple times lately. In fact we 2 banner ads as a direct result of that.

You lock the ads and only admins can comment and she thinks what a bunch of pricks, irregardless of her fault. But, hey I am the uneducated and unemployed old guy. :noc

I said the same thing but in a different way......... lol

Fin. Slip of the tongue with regards to this being an AD board.... BANNED ADVERTISEMENT and GBN are similar in some instances ... that being it both a Social and AD board. The only difference (per se) was you couldn't post comments on the AD forum. Which, to me, was good because if you wanted further information you would have to contact the AD poster.

Now, if someone has something to say about the AD or the AD poster, they would create another thread in a different forum and speak freely thereby not compromising the AD.

And yet, no lady has chimed in. But they are either afraid of backlash, or DON'T CARE. Not sure why there would be any backlash. It's THEIR adds we're talking about.

The option of locking their own adds would be best. Then THEY can decide if they want comments or not.

I can tell, for a fact, that we've lost 6 advertisers in the last 45 days because of these behaviors,
And yet, no lady has chimed in. But they are either afraid of backlash, or DON'T CARE. Not sure why there would be any backlash. It's THEIR adds we're talking about.

The option of locking their own adds would be best. Then THEY can decide if they want comments or not.

So much cloak and dagger stuff going on here with just a handful expressing real stuff. I guess butthurt is a concern going forward.
To me it's easy. I just won't comment any longer on any ad. I agree with Fishy though. The executive committee just needs to lock this thread, make a decision, and the crew will follow the rules.

I have a point. GBN is a social site. Stay social. Be polite.
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit.

Ok, so i do have a serious question which on its surface may seem trivial and quite idiotic to most but i do want a legit answer. What are we to consider ads here. Is it just posts from contrators in the “touring announcements”, “massage pleasures”, or under each state/local area??

Ive seen a few post per se in other areas that come across as ads.

Again, im not being a smartass or jerk here. I want to abide by the rules and also dont want to comment on any ads so i want clarification. Black and white please. No or no-go for launch. Cut and dried.

Is it all that hard to think to yourself BEFORE the comment gets typed?

If that’s a question posed at me the answer is no. To me, that part is simple.
My apologies if my post above created some cause for a migraine.
I’ll just stop posting on everything except in the verified section.

You can't stop posting. I saw a gal a few years back. Her way of way of screening was not only through references. But also by reading my posts to see if they were positive and if I was a good guy. So you can not just go UTR! Just saying.

I do not think it was related to your question. To answer you anything in the companion section is an ad along with touring announcements. Some will post in the verified or donor section on rare occasion also.

To everyone else:
This is not really that hard to do if as Pub said just think before you post on anyone else thread ad or not. GBN is one of the only sites that even allows follow up posts to the companion threads so lets not F that up.

If you don't think you can do this or are not sure just follow the rule of DM and don't post anything in their thread!

I think this subject has been covered more then needed so the thread is closed for now.
