Only in these eyes of those pushing the legislation. Some people aren't happy unless they can tell others how to live.

Re: Is porn a public health crisis?
I think the article makes the excellent point that porn is not inherently harmful or "evil", but that there are many potential avenues for severe issues in the production, distribution, and consumption of porn, and that while steps should probably be taken to mitigate those issues, we should make sure we're addressing the real issues, and not some suite of puritanical mores mandated by the most conservative sects of our society.

If you consider the impact on culture tv shows like special victims SVU have on people who do not watch porn.
Imagine if you will a writer with access to real police reports and some of the absolute atrocities and hideous acts that have been committed against innocent individuals over the years in there arsenal to write scripts for the show .
But needing to take it over the top so possibly they could win a award or career advancement they have to in there minds imagine and create a scenario sicker than the sickest of acts that are already on the books .
Then put it on prime time television to sell advertising spots with .
I will not and do not watch shows like SVU
It takes a very sick individual to write and produce media like that .
Porn no big deal
Portraying rape, murder, and other atrocities and even imaging and creating sicker than sick wired things we all hope never happens to anyone we know are anyone period I think is very disturbing.

Re: Is porn a public health crisis?
One concern I have regarding the current state of porn that I see, when I'm just perusing random "porn", is that there is a lot more degradation/humiliation stuff out there than I remember there being. And the rough stuff seems to get rougher and rougher. In some ways, it's bad enough that bodies and acts are being objectified, but to add in these new levels of violence and dehumanization in conjunction with sexuality? Seems really... well, dangerous.roygbiv00 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 11:49 pmIf you consider the impact on culture tv shows like special victims SVU have on people who do not watch porn.

But then, I don't like the hurking, runny mascara, red-eyed, prolapsed torture porn that seems to be all the rage. I would much prefer to see people really enjoying themselves without triggering their own body's warning and defense mechanisms (tearing, gagging, inflammation, vomiting, etc.), or requiring an apprenticeship with Cirque de Soleil... I recognize the need to get the shot, but some of us don't bend that way, or that much. At least, not physically...

Agreed. I have no use for acts that are or even look painful. It's not interesting or attractive to me or even happy.iowanprimate wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 1:28 pmOne concern I have regarding the current state of porn that I see, when I'm just perusing random "porn", is that there is a lot more degradation/humiliation stuff out there than I remember there being. My son is just starting HS. He notices girls, but not yet into them. He's asked me a few things that classmates have mentioned that I have never heard of. So I had to search up later. And some of this I'm like, WHO THINKS OF THIS CRAP! I.E. Alabama hot pocket. WTF!
Nice guys finish last? Yes we do! Our women always finish first. Multiple times!
