Post-riot Walkabout

Post by YAG » Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:03 am

I had the privilege to do a walkabout in Madison in the area where most of the rioting occurred.

I say privilege for 2 reasons. One was my awesome tour guide.

The other was the art that blossomed on the boarded up windows.

The emotional display was overwhelming.

Anger, clearly, was one theme. But despair and hopelessness was the central theme. The people on the street were very subdued as they walked the street. People of all races, for all I know of various nationalities. All but the skateboarders transfixed by the images.

Many, but hardly most, of the businesses were open.

The rumor is some affected business owner suggested this, and it caught fire.

This deserves to be preserved somehow. I was too absorbed in what was on display to capture any of it. I hope my guide did.

Too bad you didn't get any pictures.

Common problem with people who live with a lens in their hand is to decide between experiencing something, or capture it for later review. I thought once of pulling out my phone, but decided being immersed in it was better.

When at major whatnot's I always carry a nice Cannon.
I've been lucky to have been in the right place at the right time and have sold a couple pics. And that's outside of the sports stuff I used to do.
