This topic arose just the other night when Vanessa Sue and Mikael were just chatting about the lessons they have both learned as they have both been involved with the strip club environment. Vanessa Sue has been a stripper and trainer for years, soon to begin performing as a feature entertainer nationwide. Mikael has been visiting strip clubs for over a decade. He has said that his attraction to strippers is the fact that he finds free spirited and open minded women irresistible. They decided it might be fun to chronicle the many lessons they have both learned along the way.

I. How to establish a connection

Vanessa Sue: “It’s easiest to start with the Don’ts. First off, don’t be the ‘flower guy’. For those who don’t know who that is, that is the guy that comes in with a bunch of roses, sits at the bar, spends nothing at all, but tips the girls with the roses. That guy is never respected, and frankly the girls would rather have the 2 bucks that it cost for the flower instead. The second ‘Don’t’ is not to throw around money like you are a billionaire with a faulty pacemaker and too much left over Viagra. That guy is used and abused – and nothing else.”

Mikael: “Vanessa Sue makes a very good point. Bottom line, you have to be ‘real’… What does that mean? Acknowledge the fact that you are visiting them at their place of work… that means you are a ‘customer’ and they are there to get your money; Hence, the flowers are stupid and frankly, offensive (try paying the plumber with cupcakes). But don’t overdo it either. Fact is, you need to be respected as a customer as much as they have to be respected for their role, so don’t be stupid. If you meet up with a girl that intrigues you, start a conversation and if she is nice enough to sit with you, then push a twenty across the table and simply say, ‘I know your not here for your health, so I want to be sure I am as good a customer as you are a dancer”. (Most prefer the term ‘dancer’ to stripper).”

Vanessa Sue: “Mikael is correct in how to break the ice and to see if a girl is, at the very least, interested in talking with you. If a gent did that to me personally I would be grateful that he is actually thinking of me and the fact that I am working. He would have my full attention for a while as well – I mean, if it’s crazy-busy and he wants me to chat with him for a twenty for an hour I would ask if he wanted a dance and go from there. On a slower night I would chat with him, but not for more than 20 minutes. Hey, time is money.”

Mikael: “I completely agree with Vanessa Sue, in fact, that brings me to another important consideration. Timing is everything! Never expect to get to know a stripper on a busy night. In keeping with my earlier point, recognize that you are visiting her at work. You can’t expect her to spend much time chatting on a busy night. Let’s face it; a hot stripper can make several hundred an hour on a fast night. If she is willing to sit and talk for twenty bucks, she isn’t the babe you’re looking for. So does this mean never to on busy nights? No, not really, but use the busy nights for a specific purpose, that being, a unique first impression. Spend ten or fifteen minutes talking, and then mention the fact that you enjoyed meeting her, and tell her to go make some big bucks. She might size you up as a cheap ass, but then again, she might just remember as ‘different’, and that is a very good thing. Next time she sees you (preferably on a slow night) she will be interested enough to find out what the hell you are all about.”

Vanessa Sue: “I sure would remember that guy!!! Strippers are creatures that are used to getting 99% of anything they want. I hate to say that but it is a fact. If someone tells us to ‘go make money’, we are confused….yet we will drive home thinking about ‘that guy’, wondering why he said that, analyzing the night, going over every word that was spoken…and spend the next work days waiting for him to come back in again. But, when he tells me to go make money, money I will make!”

Mikael: “While we are on the topic of that busy night, there is yet another important element to this technique, never chat with only one girl, even if you think you’ve met the one you want to pursue. My rule is to chat with at least three. You need to remember that, not only are you visiting them at their work, but they are all competitors… in fact, there is no more competitive businessperson than a good stripper. They take competition to Olympic proportions. Each and every one will see you talking with the other dancers and wonder how they measured up.”

Vanessa Sue: “Actually, the best way to get ‘that girl’ to continue to pursue you, find out who her direct competition is and talk with that girl. I would never ever talk about the other girls with anyone, even if I hated them beyond all belief. The most I would ever say is “She has a nice smile” or whatever it may be. Most girls do not follow that rule at all! As a matter of fact I was on stage once and a guy came up to me and asked me why all the girls hated me. I replied because I did all of their boyfriends along with their sisters, and they just couldn’t handle the fact that I could actually have sex with a man while giving ‘attention’ to another woman at the same time. It was a total lie, but hey, I was annoyed…and slightly buzzed from the champagne.”

Mikael: “See what I mean? Just the mere mention of competition brings the tiger out of that soft and beautiful façade. You don’t have to look for her competitors; they will gravitate to you simply out of curiosity. Very important that you don’t say a word about the other girls you have been talking to, that puts you in the middle of a firestorm, a place you definitely don’t want to be. But if you play it cool, stay neutral, and always, always show respect, all the extreme dynamics of a strip club will begin to work in your favor.”

Vanessa Sue: “I cannot agree more. I have had my share of, um, ‘disagreements’ over gents. Frankly, it isn’t worth it if you think about it. I mean, if a guy wants you, he wants you. If he doesn’t he doesn’t. Almost all strippers learn that the hard way, and I am way beyond that point now. In the industry you have to face reality or the business will eat you alive.”

Mikael: “So the stage is set, you have their attention and your only concern is, which one? I like to consider that first night as a night of “interviews”. Think of each of those twenty dollar chats as an interview, but instead of seeking a new employee, but you are seeking your next “interest” someone you might find fun to be with, in all senses of the word!”

Vanessa Sue: “But, make sure to always keep in mind that there are strippers that want nothing more to lead you to believe whatever you want in order to get your mortgage payment away from you so they can buy that Prada purse and make that Corvette payment. Stripping is a lot like acting, and seasoned girls are better than Meryl Streep any day of the week…you will never know what hit you! Trust me on that one.”
